+1 DNS Made Easy... It's an excellent service!! I use it to manage over 50 domains, I've only had to raise a support ticket all of twice in the 5 or so years I've been using it.

Your doing something wrong if you are having problems. Given you are having problems its probably best to do it externally.
Check with your ISP they may let you host them on their servers as part of your current IP service, Many allow you to manage via a website also. If they don't there are plenty of public DNS providers although many are located in the states. If you do host it yourself there are plenty of pre-built packages with front ends, i'd recommend actually taking the time however and learning to implement it yourself, if you know how to compile and deploy it you can roll back and forward with versions much easier. When you rely on a pre-built sometimes you don't fully understand what's involved and hides some of the threats you should be aware of. You shouldn't be using rsync to replicate between 2 name servers DNS does that perfectly fine itself if its set-up properly. But i don't see rsyncing from a non DNS server as a problem. We actually manage our 3 servers from a 4th box which we rsync to the name servers. We run a cgi/perl frontend that allows us to edit zone records create zones and tracks changes and auto serials etc. |
