mouseman dual optical mouse, still kicking along after well over a decade...
its outlived many of the newer logitech models (its my "backup mouse" when others fail).

moved to a MS sidewinder x8 a couple years back, and corsair mech keyboard last year, after becoming displeased with the diminishing quality of current logitech gear.
won't be going back. old g15 (still have it, some keys are stuck though) feels horrible to type on in comparison to the mech - and not just in a "clicky=better" way.
its the smooth coating on the logtech KB keys.
makes them all slippery and almost slimy feeling under the fingers, lol. yeck.
feel worse still during an extended gaming session

ill hate the day when the sidewinder x8 dies though, perfectly suits my grip and weighted just right for my preference.
i should probably buy up a spare one while theres still some around (i think they are EOL? still see them listed on static ice in a few places though)

my main point is that it's not surprising they "is under hard times" when they are sending a rep into whirlpool to ask the kids what's cool right now, and he has never heard of a mechanical keyboard
Is he genuinely acting as a rep? Link?? I still highly doubt they are under hard times. See, with the industry the way it is, everyone is now making a keyboard and mouse to cash in as it's a high margin low risk product (gigabyte, coolermaster, etc). Logitech have really no need to fear these guys, they just want to stay in touch.

everyone except logitech, who are not staying in touch

...Ok so he didn't say he doesn't know what mech keyboards are, but even so this is still lame. No company should have a rep posting in a thread asking dumb questions like this, IMO it's embarrassing

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...6789&p=13#r256

and on the next page, you don't want an LCD screen? sales figures should tell them the answer

mind you if he takes on board some of the stuff ppl at whirlpool are saying they will be in the hole in a month, design by committee and all that

Ummmm, I didn't know that large US style Corporations actually listen to what customers want let alone be bothered to even try to keep in touch with what's popular today.

Might be true, but have a look at the greatest loss in the interest of Logitech keyboards amongst the main stream users. In fact Razer and Roccat have marketed themselves superbly when it comes to providing gaming peripherals. In fact their names are way above Logitech's. In fact no avid gamer wants to dirty their desk with a Logitech product anymore.

It all comes down to positioning themselves in gaming communities with decent gear. And Logitech fell off the mantle a long time ago. They now seem reticent in only providing boring rubbish at the lowest price and that's all. The problem with that is that there are far more Chinese companies actually good at distributing cheaper gear than them. So when you try scrapping the bottom of the barrel, there is always someone who scraps a little harder and longer than you.

So if Logitech wants to be noticed with state of the art keyboards and input devices then there needs to be more design put into their products than only lights and wireless technology.

Logitech is big enough to lead the field in input devices but they have disappeared, and given way to their competitors to beat them in every way. The CEO at Logitech should be embarrassed to even call himself the "Boss" because he simply destroyed a company that could of designed something unique and valuable, that might of created a new paradigm when it came to input devices. Instead of currently making rubbish that resides in land-fill sites throughout the 3rd world.

It is a pity that you can't buy them anymore - mine is really good...

I actually posted a thread in WP to ask if I can expect a Logitech mech keyb in a few months time.

The full answer was: I am not at liberty to discuss our future products, but I'll take in your feedback .. which I read as a No. Its that post that got deleted.

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum....cfm?t=1921796

The rep's name at that time was Paul, maybe someone took over that role from him.

a couple of months ago they had a rep posting all over WP asking for info about what ppl want well he popped up in the mech keyboard threads (and I'm not joking) and said "wow this is really cool, I've never heard of mechanical keyboards before"

if they are going broke that's a good enough example of why

edit: mice good, keyboards rubbish, speakers/headphones rubbish
LOL Do you have a link to that?

edit:

nvm
