I would prefer the 1080 version but you can't custom these on the site for some reason and I am really after the bigger drive and 16gb of RAM

Just wondering on whether or not to pull the trigger. Have people been pretty happy with these and for that price?
Upgrade it yourself. It's all there for easy access.

The Kaby lake cpu + 10xx series gpu refresh should be out soon. I'd be hesitant to buy now unless you score a great deal

Is that the maxed out 4k one? If so that's really cheap.

Go buy it from the Microsoft Store in my opinion though...

I am hanging out for the refresh although if it's not a 1060 I'll be pretty sad. I understand the wattage difference over a 970m, but surely there are ways to make it work.

Failing that I suppose there's always Razer.

It should be a 1050 or Ti @ 75W (perfect match).

I'd rather a bit less bulk/noise/heat myself

True that, and from what I understand the 1050 should be more or less on par with the 970m so if they can get that in the current form factor I'd definitely be interested.

I can't imagine they'd leave it much longer than that surely?

It will be whenever the relevant Kaby Lake chips are ready as well as the 1050.

The new models are up on the US store: http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/xp...?ref=PD_Family

Interesting that the 4k model has a 7300HQ vs the 7700HQ of the 1080p model, I am assuming its for battery life?

Keen to see what the AU prices look like.

If it's anything like the XPS13 2-in-1 AUS pricing, probably add about $500-$800 on top because fuck you, Australia.

Disappointed there isn't a 1050ti option - apparently it's pretty much on par performance-wise with a 970m just way cooler and better battery which would make this my ideal laptop.

Cheers
