I heard someone say Conductonaut is thinner than CLU. Take the time to work it onto the surfaces. I didn't put enough first time and it dried up within a month on one of the GPUs (temp spike to thermal throttle), I just added some more and worked it around, didn't bother with cleaning it off. Still under 70C on 100W+ load. I taped over the tiny resistors next to GPU cores on each MXM board in case of it running. With kapton tape (can withstand high temps)

I did it first on my old laptop and the heatsink contact is dodgy because the heatsink is visibly concave. Core 1 is 15C hotter than core 0 on an ivy bridge quad - they are adjacent on the die and being mobile there is no IHS. So a good heatsink fit is more important than with a paste which fills gaps better (same CPU and HS were +-2C of each other with AS5)

I will be delidding the 6700K soon and will take some pics of what naked GPU dies and copper heatsinks look like after 3 months of Conductonaut

1g of the Conductanaut should be plenty for under the IHS, a little bit goes a long way. I suggest if you don't change out CPUs or maintain paste often to seal the IHS back up, sometimes it will turn to powder/oxidize over a long period otherwise.
Ordered Grizzly goodness, what do you suggest for sealing her back up, Just any high temp silcone? Once its back under the water pump it will be there for years.

Bought a 77k and a prime 270 AR yesterday, plumbed it under a H80i for good measure.

Currently looking at 5022mhz (162x31) at 1.305v bios which is IST happy but have to clip AVX back 2x (~4700mhz) in order to avoid thermal throttle when doing prime95 runs (so as a result I haven't been game to try and get that stable any higher). Will let it ride for a few hours overnight to be sure. IST on its own is 75-80 degrees, p95 takes that up to 95+

I'm seeing anywhere from 5-10 degrees difference in temps for cores 0+2 compared to cores 1+3 - is that normal or do I need to reseat the heatsink? Wasn't really keen on a delid, but if it'll give me 20 extra degrees again to play with during a Perth summer then maybe I will...

Also is there a good guide for o/c and verifying stability? Last time I did this was against an i7-950, a few years (and a lot less knobs) ago now!

Looks like you have a great chip! I haven't spent much time on it yet but off the bat 4.8GHz 1.38v was not stable for me with an NZXT X41 (~Corsair H90)

Kind of a wtf since stock (4.5) runs at 1.20v, will play later.

Is anyone else having problems with XMP profiles? Putting my RAM at 3200MHz fails to boot, big thread on Corsair forums about it for Skylake. I'm running it at 3000@1.38v for now (meant to run 3200@1.35v).

My 7700k is pulling upwards of 1.35vcore at stock speeds, it's currently set to auto in the BIOS, so I think I'll try and manually set that lower to fight the temps a bit.

Weekend ambient temps weren't great for any real testing (Especially Saturday in Melbourne) but it was hitting 90+ with prime95 which is obviously not great. Was Only hitting 65ish in games, so I'm not super concerned, but lower would be nicer (Only using a Noctua nhu12s with 2 fans, so I'm not expecting anything super impressive, but the temps are way higher than my overclocked 6600k was doing at about the same vcore)

Yeah I did see this too actually, at the XMP timings and volts for my ram (16-18-38 1.35v iirc) it just wouldn't boot, but eventually I found it'll do 14-16-34 at 3100mhz so I stopped caring

Did a trial on an old i3-2120 I had laying around. Not so great haha. Few scratches where the blade went under the IHS. Will have to do a few more to be confident I think.

Yeah he suggested some great ones but to far out of reach to get here this week. The vice method looks very easy so I will look into that next.

Check the youtube video out where heatgun was used to soften the bond first.

I just went to supercheap auto and bought a tube of Sikaflex Black windscreen sealant. Works a treat. Just don't get it anywhere you don't want it. You can clean up with isopropyl alcohol though. Just use a very thin bead of it and clear off the old stuff a bit beforehand for better contact.

I ended up jumping on the Kabylake bandwagon cause of that sale. Got myself an i5 7600k.
I WAS going to try and wait for Ryzen but meh, I'm too impatient and selling both my pc and macbook at the same time probably wasn't the greatest idea.

Oh well, here's to a machine that'll hopefully last another 4 odd years.

What ram are you playing with?
