Internet was broken when I left for work this morning.
Was still broken when I got home.
And is still broken after speaking iiNet.

Brilliant start to the weekend.

Of course.
And then did everything all over again because iiNet support can't move through the steps in their script unless you do exactly as they ask.

I had come the conclusion before ringing them that the issue was either with iiNet/NBN services or with my NBN box on the wall.
Because I can't even get a connection with a PC plugged directly into the NBN box - It doesn't pick up an IP address.

She eventually arrived at the same conclusion and escalated it.

Ah, the joys of wasting hours of your life coaching level 1 support over the phone (often on your dime) to discover things you knew hours (possibly years) ago.

Having worked L1/2 Helpdesk at an ISP, I've know, unless you have a direct L3 contact, who you can talk to, it's quicker and easier just to run through the script with them, than it is to try and convince them to escalate it any other way.

They get to tick all their boxes, and flick it to the next level, you get talking to someone who can fix your problem, everyone is happy.
