Well it is an official release as the file is hosted by Google themselves and it's impossible to upgrade to Jelly Bean without flashing.....

Anyway I've got it running on my phone fine and the difference between Jelly Bean and ICS is tiny unless you're really after the new app.

I really hope you aren't saying the Google need to cut out the dev community and close the OS? When I buy a phone, I like to do with it what I like, not have someone dictate how I use it.

Looks like it is coming though, Google are beginning to roll it out, but carriers may take time.

The lack of concern for basic security in this thread leaves me fearful for the future.

Unsure how downloading a secure ROM equates to a lack of concern for security?? Heck, there's even mirrors for other DL sites. We should just abolish the android dev community, far too risky...

Android development is a world apart from a couple of kids getting their hands on anonymously contributed ROMs hosted on Mediafire to show off to their school chums.

I'd put money on not a single person in this thread knowing how to develop squat, let alone being an actual Android developer.

For my part, on Saturday I flashed from the Samsung/Voda version on my phone to vanilla YAKJU from the google dev site. Then within about an hour, I had Jellybean delivered OTA. No flashing to update from ICS to JB. Just from ICS to vanilla ICS.

If you cannot trust an OTA update direct from Google, what can you trust?

Got 4.1 on my Nexus S on Saturday. No problems to report so far.
Feels pretty smooth, a bit more stable than ICS, and the voice recognition thing (blatant rip off of Apple's feature) is pretty cool.
Disappointed about the discontinued flash support though.

Never used Google Voice? I suppose the 'cards' aspect or returned results may be, but Apple was playing catch up in terms of voice recognition for awhile.

Glad you got your update!

I hadn't bothered to use it until JB, only because I heard that they revamped it in this update.
The cards are fairly pointless. I'll be using public transport later today so I'll get to test those cards out and see if they work or not.
Apart from that, there are none there that I would really use. Weather is handy, but yeah.
