I don't want to keep banging on about Mediaportal, but I've just setup an Android app called ampdroid and its freaking awesome.

Remote streaming of live TV, movies, tv shows and music via wifi or 3G. Yeah, you read that right, 3G. You can also access your EPG and set to record as well I believe.

Thats pretty awesome in my book.

I've tried many solutions over the last 8-9 years and this is the best I've seen. I'm yet to run the livetv as my sole tv access, but so far it has been 100% stable.

I've never had an issue with XBMC not being able to play anything I've thrown at it, Those Skins look terrible, and XBMC is free

If you enjoy the addon, please consider supporting it's continued development.

Detailed HTPC setup using PseudoTV
This also has a manual on how to use PseudoTV. Thanks to Milkman for this amazing guide!

This script gives you the ability to define your own TV channels and watch all of your media just as you would watch normal cable. Use the electronic program guide to see what's on, or to start watching anything you see.

Setup your own list of channels by configuring the addon and opening the channel configuration utility. You will be able to select from a variety of built-in channel types, or you can select a smart playlist that you've made to be a channel.

It is suggested (although not required) that you turn on the web server. This will reduce the amount of CPU usage that PseudoTV takes.

Try it out, give suggestions or add bug reports to github.
Interested in hearing about what others think of this seems pretty cool.

I finally got Media Portal up and running well. Was enjoying it for a week or 2, and now it has cracked it and says i don't have a codec installed to watch my files.

I had installed the "LAV" codecs, but i might have to try a different set now.

I've got it on there - it is actually pretty cool to use.

Good for those lazy sundays where you don't feel like doing anything, including making a decision on what to watch.

Seems quick - takes about 20 secs to start running, but then you can change channels quite fast. And then you get to see all the old episodes of things you haven't seen for a while.

Generally it only lasts a few episodes of something before we find something that we want to watch, then we normally go back to the series list and go from the beginning, but it's still pretty cool if you've got a huge TV / movie collection.

Is it the SAF codex you are talking about? If not then they are the only ones to uses with MP.

Yep thats them. Not sure why i said LAV.

Basically i try to play a file and it wont play, saying no codec found.
In the start menu i try to run the "Start Video Decoder" or whatever it is, and it gives me a regsvr32 error.

Might have to uninstall and re-install.

Turns out it was just because I'm running windows 8 and I need to run the "turn video decoder on" as an administrator

Just on this... I bit the bullet and updated to 1.3 beta last night. Update process was very simple and hasnt borked anything (as far as I can tell).

Definitely much better performance and Titan skin really is a nice piece of work. I'd recommend the update if you havent already.

Media Browser 3 is being announced later today. Guessing it *might* be a standalone as opposed to MCE plugin...not sure.

But I'm expecting big things
