The "tweeter" is the word you are looking for.

No it's not meant to look like that.
It looks like there is mildew or something. If it is brand new, I'd contact the store and get it swapped, for sure.
If it is second hand, a slight spray of mold killer or something may work, but I don't really think it;s something to be overly concerned about.

Thanks guys. I picked it up 2 days ago from scorptec, already sent them an email about it all. Will hopefully just get it switched over at some stage.

I'm loving the speakers though, aside from the volume knob. It's a god damn mystery, every time you wake it from sleep you don't know what volume it's going to come back as. It's always a surprise waiting to happen. Not too sure why they went with that design decision, it's a pain in the butt.

Wow... that's strange...
The one I tested was relatively constant. It wasn't always the same, but that could be due to the difference in source volume rather than the speaker changing the volume.

Considering the volume dial seems to just go around in circles without actually stopping at say max or min volume, It is a little odd. At least that way you could turn it all the way down and know it's actually all the way down.

Maybe the new unit won't have that issue. Will be taking these back next week due to the strange stuff on the right tweeter.

Regardless. Still a nice sounding set of speakers compared to my old logitechs, especially when they are turned up a bit. So sweet.

Well my A5s carked it after 2 and a half years use, luckily they have a 3 year warranty.

The 'slave' speaker started to get a crackling noise when the speakers first got turned on. This lasted about 10 minutes until they warmed up then the crackling dissapeared and they worked flawlessly until the next power cycle. This crackling intensified up to the point that you could clearly hear it from outside the room, and now the master speaker has started to develop the same problem. Tested from 3 different sources (amp, soundcard, mp3 player) and the problem was consistent across all 3.

Pretty dissapointed TBH, I have some 25 year old Sansui floorstanders that still work beautifully, yet these highly regarded speakers crap out in less than 3 years. Oh well shit happens

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a aktimate mini+ speakers and they sound great! But i encountered a problem where there is a excess amount of static/hiss noise when i turn the speakers on. I dont think i noticed it when i first test it but it became more obvious but the sound quality its still good.

i asked the seller and he said its probably the amplifier noise and its normal but im not so sure. can someone tell me if this happens to their speakers ? cheers
