The pads are now filled with pages of "stream of consciousness" crap, just to practice.

Then I discovered IAMPETH.

Now I cower from the light. Those guys & girls are really good. Hate those calligraphers, copperplaters etc

My collection has gone up by;

Lamy Safari FP

Jinhao x450

The Jinhao is remarkable, for its' price.

I realise I've brought the tone of this thread down by my bleating about cheap pens, but I can't justify some of the prices I've seen: Parker 51 for $2,700 USD? Really...

Cheers

Same as for watches - I cringe when I see what some people pay for one of those. Oh and you have not brought down the tone one bit.

Blergh, my old marking fountain pen (Pilot Kakuno) exploded today, looks like i murdered someone. So another Lamy Safari has been added to the ranks.

But my more common pens are Kaweko AlSports, and a couple of customs. Should take a photo sometime.

A 60's Parker 51, black, silver lustralloy cap, F nib.

Jinhao Pewter Dragon Fountain pen, completely over the top, 130+

It seems a bit stuttery, but I'll persist.

Oh, dear god... I just googled IAMPETH, and was suitably awestruck when I watched one of their videos. Amazing penmanship, makes my calligraphic doodles look *very* amateurish...

Fester I have pen envy - they are lovely pens!

EDIT - those pens are not horrendously expensive - I think I see some purchases coming up in the near future!

I like the look of that Jinhao pewter. I'd buy that just for display

I'd post pics of my crap collection but I typically buy pens for writing rather than looks, got a light box I havent assembled yet and threw my old one away. been slack with my photography stuff.

The Jinhao dragon pen comes in different colours, and
they've got a snake one too.

I've not inked the thing up so I don't know what it's like to write with.

I have other jinhao fountain pens and they're quite good for the price.

Cheers

I think Jinhao does a cheap fountain pen that I picked up ten of with an ebay auction that had zero bids in the last minutes. Got these 10 for under $20 total, maybe under $10, it was stupidly cheap and inked one up it writes perfectly fine too. Better than my twsbi and far better than I expected for the price.

On a side note. I've been watching the Goulet Pens youtube videos recently and find them very good. I've always avoided looking at their site when shopping because with the french "goulet" name I thought they be poncy overpriced retailers. But Goulet is american (and a pleasant one it seems) and their prices are better than my recent ebay buys regrettably. Annoyed I didn't give them a chance before but my next writing budget will go to my wishlist on their store. I definitely say give his videos a check out, he covers everything it seems, there's stuff for beginners and advanced tinkerers, stuff on inks and papers, how-tos, terminology explanations. Just a ton of stuff, helped clear up some things for me and expanded my list of pens I want to get

(i'm not affiliated with them in any way, but had awesome supports for an enquiry I had and have learn/enjoyed heaps from the videos, just wanted to share them some love here.)

Wonder if any of his pens come in a normal nib?
