one problem I have with this is they are just measuring layer 3 throughput, they need to correlate that data with layer 1 for DSL services and input from the backhaul operators to correlate *why* poor throughput it occurring.

it's a good start, but more data needed.

Of course I just -love- being accused of not reading the article by people who haven't read the article.

My bad, I read the article but not the article linked in the article.

All good - for some reason I just get really irritable whenever I read about anything to do with the NBN.

10 years ago, when a 7+% ROI was feasible, and even then it was a bad idea for a public good.

On Belong I was getting about 1mbit down during peak on 100/40 FTTP.

I'm on Ausbbs at the moment on 100/40. During peak I just got 68 down 31 up.

I signed up for the ACCC link as well.

thank you for illustrating that CVC capacity is the issue with NBN congestion, not the technology like FTTN.

Whirlpool have an active ABB thread with multiple reps in it. If you ask them the load on your current POI, they should let you know.

They had some tool on triple m the other day and he completely avoid the CVC issue, felt like ringing up but it caters for mostly bogan tradies so they wont give a toss anyway.

Most of the time the said resident tech expert dumbs shit down way too much for people. WTF is the point of getting ol mate even on the show to talk when there is nothing informative in what he says.

anyone listening to triple M isn't doing so because they want to discuss the technical issues of carrier broadband infrastructure.

I've pretty much given up even discussing the issue other than here, where the quality and knowledge of the participants is high enough that it (usually) doesn't descend into a the text equivalent of a knuckle dragging gruntfest.

in the meantime, NBN has a solution in planning that will make the issue very transparent indeed. there won't be anywhere to hide then.
