Looked inside and the components looked fine, but something is cooked, and a couple of wires have broken off the transformer. Soldered them back on, but no dice.

I'll have to find another power supply, or even better, build a mini-ITX into this one.
Just use an old ATX PSU with the Amiga lead.

guys, what is that software that I see often people use to test the speed of their CPU on the Amiga? Is it on the workbench ? I only have 1.3.

I got a 68010 CPU and want to see if it registers the extra speed (although I know its useless, I just like to tinker with stuff)

You mean Sysinfo? You can download it and run it directly.

You'll need to make a bootable ADF and stick the files on there, then boot from it on your Gotek.

You can use WinUAE for this task - mount a bootable disk, and mount a directory on your hard drive in WinUAE; once it boots you should be able to copy the Sysinfo files onto the floppy. Then boot the ADF file in your Gotek.

Alternatively, google around and see if you can find a premade bootable Sysinfo disk.

do I need a floppy for this or can I create a file on the PC and just copy the ADF onto my usb stick?

I just tried the above process, its too hard and not working. anyone point me to a sysinfo adf file that that will work on A500 pls?

EDIT, nvm, found a set of tools that included sysinfo, all working ok including my 68010 ps: how do I clock the CPU so t runs at its max frequency ?

You can't, the CPU has to run a clock independent of the chipset. Due to the custom chips on the Amiga you cannot overclock the CPU without mucking up the timing of the custom chipset, hence the need for accelerator cards.

There's a hardware mod to do it:
http://aminet.net/package/hard/hack/14MhzA500

It breaks a lot of things apparently, better off getting a proper accelerator.

I'm looking for some Amiga inspired chiptunes. I've found a few sites, but they seem mostly about remixing so it sounds like it is still close to 100% doable on the good ol' Amiga.

I prefer more mordern style techno-style music with 'inspiration' from old stuff, rather than simply grabbing Turrican and remixing it. So more along the lines of Lukhash i suppose.

Cheers.

Download some Amiga musicdisks and run them in WinUAE? You can search on pouet.net for the top rated ones.

Check out the Razor 1911 Chipdisk series if you haven't already - these run on Windows. This is my favourite one: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=14585

Too easy, go for the old thing and the new thing. 4Matt. He is still going. Reflections 1 and 2 are great floppy disk music albums. There may be better sources. Moondark on 1 absolutely blew me away. Search 4mat on facebook too. Some interesting videos too. Plus albums on youtube.

Have just had confirmed that a dude on Amibay is sending me two kickstart ROM mod boards for PAL A1000s. YES! I am planning to do a switch to make the external drive DF0: for a gotek. I also have some fast ram on a couple of side cars. Bingo-Amiga game box with colour composite video!

Anyone got any good sites for downloading WHDload images of games/demo's?

Something other than the WHDload site itself.
