Too soon, I just hate that guy soooo much!

Too much coding to do to move all my computers to Void Linux just now but is high on priority list. Just hate it when Stallman is right, that beardy weirdo was always the right level of paranoia for this modern world.

Libreboot + Void Linux

Building built in 1862.

Refurbished in 1978, with A/C mechanicals from that time.

Not much I can do about that.

Sums up my feelings well. I find Stallman a distasteful personality at the best of times (I've attended one of his lectures, and the guy has all the people skills of a spork). But sadly, he's right, and he predicted 99% of the bullshit that's going on today long before others did.

More to the point, he put safeguards in place to protect us from said bullshit. Without him, the technology and software landscape would be a pretty bleak place today. Most of what makes software cool today is largely thanks to his more political output (more so than his code itself).

I don't like him. But I respect the work he's done, and the good it brought the entire world.

also QLD not Coldberra, you are lucky to get an entire office to agree to that temp.
What do you mean 'The whole office agrees to that temp'
The building manager decides, and everyone else has to lump it.

(And then we complain when the temp gets screwed by randoms pointing heaters at the thermostat - 'it wasn't hot enough' - idiots.)

What you do is put thermostats everywhere that people can 'control', then let them set temperatures and proclaim that they have fixed it.

....Just don't hook those thermos up to anything

I'm in the same boat, I think he is very extreme in his opinions and he certainly won't be winning any people skills awards, but at the same time thank the noodly overlord that he's been able to exert some influence. Otherwise... I don't wanna think about it.

This, to me, seems somewhat similar to the NBN with its VoIP phone service, leaving you to call your service provider for support when the broadband service has died...

Contractors are often cheaper for short term things than hiring staff, but yeah that kinda logic drives me nuts haha
