the thing is regardless of NV having issues TSMC would be raped by a chip Fermi size they are at <40% yeilds for RV870!!!!!

I think that Fermi will likely appear early next year but in such small numbers and as possibly a neutered version. ie smaller bus and less functioning shaders etc.. Just to get something out the door.

My ETA is now March 2010... Just so they can claim they launched it in Q1...

But I don't expect healthy stock for months...

Mine is May 2010. Even then i doubt anything more than the entry level card will be launched, which will most likely beat the 5870 in every test..... But 6 months after the launch of the 5xxx series it would be more shocking if fermi didn't beat it.

They should, i don't have much doubt their card will be competitive..they are the leader is ‘visual computing’ and intend on staying that way.

I think most people expect Fermi to beat ATI, i mean the simple specs of the thing is ridiculous, its just that everyone also expects it to be a lot more expensive.

Nvidia to Ramp Up Production of Fermi Graphics Cards Only in 2010.

Nvidia Corp.’s chief executive officer said during quarterly conference call with financial analysts that the company would only ramp up production of its next-generation flagship Fermi-G300 graphics processing unit in the company’s first quarter of fiscal year 2011, which means January – April timeframe.

“Next year it is going to be an interesting first quarter because, in fact, we will need more wafers than ever in Q1. The reason for that is because – and I mean more 40nm wafers than ever in Q1 –we are […] fully ramping Fermi for three different product lines: GeForce, Quadro and Tesla,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, chief executive officer of Nvidia, in the conference call with financial analysts.

Nvidia’s first quarter of fiscal year 2011 begins on the 26th of January and ends on the 26th of April, 2010. Therefore, the claim by Mr. Huang means that Nvidia will only be able to start commercial shipments its next-generation graphics cards based on Fermi architecture in calendar 2010, not in calendar 2009, as the company promised originally.

meh, I cbf waiting on nvidias dx11 anymore, im just picking up 98 tri sli because theyre cheap now. No point in bothering about this, it will be out when its ready, nothing I can do about it, tri sli is fun enough for me

Id only be upgrading to it if dx 11 is actually worth it, dx10 never took off, maybe dx11 will. Wouldnt get them till theyre sub $300 anyway.

I'm looking forward to an agressive marketing campaign, which they're going to obviously need to tell people their cards are good again.

Hopefully they don't use the old boxes for the GX2x5's and just put a sticker over them like the last 1, i mean 2, sorry i mean 3, wait, sorry, i meant 4, shit, again very sorry, I mean 5 lots of refreshes we've had.

haha, nice. Im looking forward to it too, considering im not moving towards ATI, or upgrading at all for that matter until I notice my games starting to slow down.

Nvidia really have failed their time management, they just handed over their profits to ATI.
