That's only available if you're on a flexible fare. I'm platinum and frequently they won't move me even with a laptop bag as my only luggage. Of course my employer favours the cheapest, least flexible tickets when purchasing.

I got lucky once as a VA platinum and got moved on a non flexi flight for free at a regional airport. I rocked up and the plane was on the tarmac so they let me take it

Virgin is better in this regards and one of the reasons I like to fly them for domestic. They'll always pull a Gold/Plat ahead if possible regardless of the fare.

Ah that's right, it works with classic redemption seats as well.

FYI. Flying to/from Melbourne to Hong Kong in July with Virgin. Velocity gold.

Ticket doesn't qualify for a lounge at either end :'(.

Will ask at the gate anyway.

Which airline? That sucks. Virgin Atlantic had a club house there which was really incredible and you could get in with gold I think. Unfortunately they don't fly the route anymore from Australia.
Definitely worth an ask though, I got into some lounge in Amsterdam on silver with Etihad but I couldn't get in when I was gold. Weird things abound and you never know until you ask!

If you delay your trip to Aug 17 and switch to Cathay Pacific I'll guest you into the Qantas First class lounge.

I've got an Amex Velocity Platinum, but I'm fairly certain it doesn't qualify for the lounges. .........100% happy to be wrong. (other than the 2 Virgin passes per year)

priority pass via one of your creditcards maybe?
maybe the free for life citi signature visa?

Flying to Munich late July in J on SQ for 1wk, was amazed to find an award ticket in late May (2 months prior to departure). gotta love SQ!

think I can guest one person into the lounge in Sydney as I'm also SQ gold?
