Tesla is of a different generation (so to speak!). Femi died 10 years after (but much younger in his 50's). Sagan died in the 1990's, which would put him as a contemporary to most of us. Hawking is still alive.

I didn't mention Tesla since it said *Recent Times* in the first post =)
And I was on the fence if that really was recent.. but Tesla has also had a profound influence on technology
