Default Steampunk PC Build - "Kraken Pacific Line"

Having been impressed and inspired by the many Steampunk PC builds on the net, I figured I've have a crack at one myself.

First thing was to decide on a theme.

I love maritime history, as well as the mythical Kraken so that tied in well and I decided to go with a maritime theme. Probably no coincidence I am currently reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea....

I made up a Steamship Line which I have named the "Kraken Pacific Line".

Thanks to a great graphic artist I found via airtasker we worked together to come up with a logo for this fictional company.

I got an old PC case for free from wateva76 - an Antec VSK2450 (Thanks mate)

and started attacking it almost immediately.....

edit: for some reason it seems the embedded YT doesn't work so here's the link:

I have lots of ideas for this build and it will take quite some time to get all those together, but I'll update this thread as things happen.

It looks a hell of a lot bigger without all it's internal guts. I'm waiting to see how it turns out.

Seems you are not the only one. In the last couple of days someone posted a leather cut out they did of the design...

I suppose imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Did it have tentacles? if so then yeah it could be a copy,

but otherwise an image search on google shows that 'logo' everywhere.... including here where it seems to be getting used commercially: http://www.pictaram.com/user/krakenwire/3080445461

Nah I've been away for work for a while, back now.

Just before I left I picked up a bunch of brass 'stuff' from a marine place, and the postie delivered my ebay purchase - a working brass 'porthole' - while I was away...

No progress to speak of, but an update is due so...

I've marked up the side of the case for the 'window'(porthole). Need to attackl that with a jigsaw.

and the porthole ? Well.... I got this on ebay (not cheap, mind) and replaced what was a mirror with some clear plastic from an old clock.

and like any self respecting porthole, it opens...

I also got a pile of copper stuff, but can''t lay my hands on it at the moment, aside from this....

I hope that holds you for a while.. Now I have to go an update my dual system build thread....
