Very well. I nominate Jagged Alliance 2, specifically the 1.13 community patch.

I'm going to stick with my Chrono Trigger nomination.

Why play Chrono Trigger? Because there's heaps of JRPG fans out there that go crazy about these things and well, Chrono Trigger in my opinion is the best one.

It's got amazing story, visuals, music and gameplay. It's self contained in that there aren't a dozen sequels with a ravenous fanbase arguing about which one is the best in the series.

If you aren't much into JRPGs but want to see what the fuss is about, this game is all you need.

sorry wasn't trying to TC more to streamline, noms and voting into 1 lot per month.

anyway I'll nominate Karateka, Mechner's first big game imo - available on iOS and Android as well, but not as good.

Great nomination. I was hoping someone would put this one up.

Game was released on dozens of platforms. It'll be a really fun one to compare across ports.

Switched from nominations to voting. Same as last time: vote for as many as you like. When the poll closes, we play!

I had to vote Syndicate. Just like system shock, I own it on multiple platforms but could never understand the hype behind it. To me it was a clunky interface, and I didn't know what to do most of the time. I also never got my head around weapons/upgrades or when to use the mind control and other abilities. I expect I would enjoy it if I RTFM and worked at it.

The IPA levels were an important aspect of agent management well worth learning but it wasn't as straight forward as the rest. These are the red, blue, and brown bar levels below the agent portrait which increased or reduced their effectiveness. Spoiler tagging the rest incase people want to learn it themselves.

Spoiler below, highlight to read:
Intelligence – controls an agent’s reactions to a given situation.
Perception – improves precise firing and alerts an agent to danger earlier.
Adrenaline – controls speed of reactions.

For me first thing I'd do when starting a level is lower all these as this gives you longer to use them when needed. Clicking both mouse buttons ie left and right was a shortcut to automatically trigger these to highest levels and as soon as that familiar agent music starts it what I'd do. This gives them automatic firing and increased movement speed.

Once the danger is over I lower the levels again to let them recharge for the next enemy engagement. You will note that as they are used or left to recharge the darker fill colour of the bar allows more or less use of each effect.

Guns are fun to work out they can be dangerous to your agent also if using the wrong weapon in close quarters, also watch out for time bombs

Upgrades for your cybernetic each level is more effective then the previous and the ingame description described them well enough iirc

Stay away from time bombs? I grabbed as many as I could for resale! It was important to scavenge as many weapons as you could to keep your corporate account healthy, especially in the early game.
