Cool 286 laptop here, boxed + all accessories. Listed as not working but for 80 bucks it would be worth a chance that it could be repaired (if you were in the market for a 286 laptop of course)

I'd love a old laptop but one thing which scares me about them is the extreme lack of replacement parts. It's hard enough at times to get vintage desktop PC's up and running, but with laptop's (besides the really early "portables" which basically had a desktop board inside a small case, eg. IBM 5155) your dealing with proprietary components. You *really* need to know your stuff at a component level.

In saying that, could be something as simple as a dead power brick.

He's as good seller. I brought an NEC MultiSync II off him about a year ago after convincing him to split with the system he had bundled with it and shipping it. Unfortunately he's not even entertaining splitting/shipping this time around probably my fault lol.

He must have a treasure trove of items because he had a fair few other items listed back then too.

Hey, funny. I literally just (like 10 minutes ago) bought something from the dude you guys are talking about... Dead risc PC (battery leaked). I think I can do something with it...

His auctions always make me cry, because every time I'm after something very specific, he has the only listing. And it's always pick up only, no freight, no splitting, super strict, all-caps "damn you to hell if you even ask" policy. I can understand from the seller's standpoint with this, but I don't get why people use ebay if they're gonna do local only and ask a fixed price. Why not use gumtree?

Anyways... Side tracked... I came to post this:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Macintosh...s/162444043286

Pick up only, and it's in Adelaide. So that pretty much guarantees it won't go for more than the starting bid. 3 compact macs, all with minor fixable issues and in great condition. Software... manuals... peripherals... Typical luck for me... Every time I need to go to Adelaide, I check gumtree listings and ebay figuring "eh, grab a few things while I'm there." But my messages on gumtree get ignored...
