I remember them saying XFR can actually work with 'extreme' cooling methods so it'd be fun to see someone test that.
No one on this side of the fence has run Zen cold yet although I want to and because it's based on a low power process it doesn't clock that well as in around 5.2ghz with full pot ln2

Another question for the boys and girls.

I need some B-Die but I can only order from here: https://www.jw.com.au/products/ram-m...?price=220-560

Ideally I'd want the 3200 c14 stuff but they don't carry them so what are my options?

If you can only order through that store, I'd ask them to order in what you want from Gskill.

I might have to do that tbh.

I have store credit with them and I need to use it up and since I need new memory I figure this is a good opportunity for it.

Wink

EOI before up for sale Guys who would buy my bad ass delidded 4790K & Gigabyte z97 OC Force?
Proven good clocker as a Scottie Golden.

I'm actually spending more time horizontal lately with back pain........
than anything else. 5 days straight this time.

So that's it really. No point having x2 systems if I don't even use x1

Hey old boy. What volts did that "HOT bastard" take to get 50X and temps? I remember you doing pretty well with it in one of the older comps we had.

Question

What sorts of volts would a 4930K require at 5GHz?

I'm starting to doubt my own memory as I simply can't get this CPU to 5GHz even though I've done it before with the same model board and similar model ram.

It'll boot no worries but as soon as windows attempts to load it'll BSOD. Usually with 0x124 (which I assume is vcore) but I've also been getting some other BSOD codes as well. The volts are starting to get into scary levels so I've decided to stop pushing them until I consult other possible reasons for the issue.

The mobo is a P9X79 WS, memory is this G.Skill kit (2666MHz 11-13-13-35-2N): https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2666c11q-16gzhd

There's still a few ideas I need to try but I thought I'd consult the brains trust on here for suggestions

What volts are you at? My recollection I was up around 1.45 for 49x. First thing would be ram back to stock find cpu clocks and volts then bring ram back up.

Best runs had ram near 2800c12 (not my handywork finding those particular memory timings) but it hurt core. In the end I ran 2600c12 or 2400c8 on pis for better scores.

Watch the board isnt getting over zealous in tertiary timings too. Some went too tight which hurt stability. (I struggle with asus bios for mems due to lack of experience and all my learning has been on Gigabyte and ASRock)

I'm hitting 4.6ghz at ~1.45 volts - although it should be possible with less. I've tried as high as 1.5 for 5GHz, no luck yet.

Good idea about dialing back the memory clocks... may even try in dual channel or single channel and see if that helps until I figure out a stable clock. Memory timings are an absolute mystery to me, are there any good guides for that sort of stuff or is it just trial and error? The sticks run fine at 2666mhz in XMP mode but I don't mind dropping MHz if it helps core clocks.

Here's what I've managed so far, although I need to try and rerun this now I've fixed some of the issues with my cooling.
