Last I read it's being developed on the same engine as SWTOR. From the moment I heard about ESO I had a sparkle in my eye thinking about how great it could be if it played like Skyrim, as an MMO.

After reading that, my heart sank a little...but I'll stay positive and hope it doesn't end up being another 6 months (or less) of gameplay before losing the majority of it's community to the next MMO with promises to be great.

Was that engine the reason there were large portions of SWOTR that were created with very short sight lines? Or was it just a design choice of the developers?

A lot of the zones in that game were stuck in valleys etc. Felt very claustrophobic.

Be a shame to see that happen here.

The star wars engine was terrible. If it plays anything like that I'm staying well away.

They used the hero engine for SWTOR, you will find 90% of mmos use the hero engine.

I didn't know that. But I know that SWTOR ran like an absolute dog on my computer. But newer games with nicer graphics run much smoother.

The combat looks a bit "Aim and hope for the best" if you know what i mean, AKA the same as all Elder scrolls games.

Can anybody Confirm/Deny?

Errrr, it seems more to me like it's aim, and if you're a good shot, you'll do damage, if you're not, you won't.

What's wrong with that

If you are aiming and hoping for the best with an Elder Scroll game then you are doing it wrong. There is no dice roll determine a hit, it's exactly the same as an FPS in this regard. You might need to learn how to shoot arrows by the sound of it.

With 200ms this would be pretty painful, thats what i was getting at.

Assuming that there are no Australian servers.

Lag compensation ?

If you want to be an archer in any Elder Scroll game you have to put in a lot of hours of practice. Always been easier to use spell casting with splash damage honestly.

I would be very surprised if there was not a targeted lock on mode for ranged weapons/magic.

TBH Unless its changed drastically from the preview I played in March I'm still not holding out for anything spectacular.
