No game has done crowd control and pulling, the sheer variety of spells or risk vs reward like the original EQ. I could go on for hours with gushing praise about how unique that game was, and how everything since has been a shallow follow the yellow brick road whack a mole style game for the masses.

WTB SOW for 1Pp!

If they wanted to stay true to EQ they would just revamp EQs graphics again. Why do they have to be so restricted?

Worse thing I can see is they are going for a AAA title. This means large investments, business sense would state they will play it safe (or very safe-ish). Even if they released EQ today as a new release, using player base as a guide it would fail, but profit on the other hand...

Just need a few indie MMOs to take off like Minecraft/DayZ and show large companies they don't need to spend hundreds of millions to be on a winner. Heck imagine if CubeWorld was MMO!

I have an Oculus Rift and I actually like the idea of 3rd person with it.

It would just feel like you are floating on a cloud hovering over your player and following him around.

Would probably alleviate some of the motion sickness feeling I get.

I can understand that, but from an immersion point of view I think it makes sense to play from 1st person.

3rd person is "cheating" in a sense. You should only be able to see what you can see from the eyes of your character. Not see everything around you from a height. Plus with the rift you'll be able to look around very easily. So it will be more intuitive than having to use keys to look around.

Good to see some more interest has spiked in this.

I am still interested, but having digested some of the information, has left be abit :

No levels in game
Ability to change classes on the fly
Said classes are infact found by exploring the game
Destructive world, just sounds like a griefers dream come true

Also +1 to EQMac - been playing there awhile with the PC "hack"

Movement video released.

Now THIS is how movement should be done in an MMO. Fluid, free and fun.

Look forward to how combat ties in with it.

Basically the same as the previously released movement videos, except without commentary

They've presented it well, but it doesnt look fantastic. 2-3 animations to cover very specific scenarios (sliding down slope, hurdling rocks etc) does not translate to freedom of movement.
I'll follow the progress, but I'm sketchy to see how it all turns out.
So far the Lion's (yeah I dont know the race name) face is really turning me off for being totally comical (as in stupid/laughable).

Ahh, wasn't aware they'd released proper movement videos yet.

I think that this video and the animations do translate well into freedom of movement. It's easy to see the difference between this and say, something more rigid like Final Fantasy's movement. It looks fluid, tight and fast, you can tell by watching it that it would be fun to play.

Good movement is hopeless without good combat mechanics though so we'll see how that goes.

I went for trailblazer pack, most likely not needed, but well.

Here is a reddit thread which talks about the different packs. Also a good summary of the different packs here

Each to there own, I'm happy to pay for guaranteed access to alpha and beta, EQ is also one of my all time favorite games and I'm generally very happy with where EQN and EQL are heading.

And when it's all send and done it's only $100 and I've spent more than on a lot of games that i don't even play.

EQ:Landmark alpha build might be arriving early, as early as next week judging by this slightly mysterious comment from Dave Georgeson

Oh, look at the calendar. There was an extra week left before alpha. Wasn't that just last week?!? Who took it! Lousy damn time lords.
