Just started playing this, is there any way to improve torpedo detection?
By the time you get the msg there is no time to avoid them and it is instant death.

just keep an eye on what their destroyers and TBs are doing, basically if you're a nice slow moving tarket they're probably lining you up for torpedos.

yeah if a destroyer presents its side to you, point your bow or stern at it.

Some quick tips:

Unless you're in a destroyer, use AP. Aim in between the stacks and at the waterline for citadel hits, (big dmg) although there are a couple of ships that are exceptions to this rule.

If you're in a battleship, don't go anywhere without cruisers for anti-air support, especially if there's a carrier around, as they are the hard counter to battleships.

Destroyers are ambushers. They have low detection ranges, and can be upgraded to have longer range torpedos than they can be spotted from. You can turn your anti air guns off with P to prevent detection if needed.

Bind a key to Tag Target to alert your team to your current target. (unbound by default)

Can't wait till I unlock my 10km range torps. Really enjoying playing the IJN Destroyers, fast + torp spam.
Minekaze? Those 10K bangers are slower, I'll keep my 68knot torps thanks...

No idea if this change still works or not.
They apparently broke that feature partway into the alpha releases according to the forum threads.

Yeah it seems trivial but they did...

There are upgrades down the track to increase by 20% I think.

Man that kawachi ship is the biggest pile of excrement..

got half way through it's grind and gave up from the frustration and ended up pay2win free XP's straight to the myogi, then spent like 6+hrs having the time of my life playing the myogi.

i've found tier 2 japanese destroyer to be the most fun. 16 seconds reload on 7km range torpedoes, highly manouvrable.

tier 3 and above the reload times such so bad...

You can evidently see who here holds an attitude of trying to improve and happiness, as compared to the sourpusses that frequent here.

Don't bother with the US then.

30s reloads and <10km range.

My ingame name is mathuisella. Same as my username here.

Playing tier 2 and 5.

I finally installed it, jumped straight in with zero tutorial and sank 3 ships=) next game I was overconfident and died rather quickly.. It's a silly premise and has a massive emphasis on luck but it's strangely fun to play.

There's a fair bit of luck involved with Battleships, not so with any of the other 3 types so much. Good aim goes a long way, but it boils down to the deviation rng of the battleships salvos being quite large compared to smaller caliber guns, to prevent the good BB players ALWAYS one shotting everything. (as opposed to only occassionally).

Stick with it, get some mates into it with you, MUCH easier in a good comms team. Most pub games are like headless chickens running around.

And I'd probably stick with doing Random Battles instead of Co-op, as the bots can actually but a bit harder, but ultimately less rewarding to fight against than a person. The only thing about Random Battles that shits me is the prevalent use of out of bounds of the map to invuln your ship "bluelining". A lot of people do it.(at least in tiers I-VIII I've noticed)
