I know a few of the local old Indigenous mob. One of them told me his recipe for Scrub Turkey. First you get a good fire going and down to heaps of coals. You put your turkey, dressed and stuffed into the coals and a shale rock (local stone) on top. Cover in coals. Check in a week and when the rock is tender the Scrub Turkey needs a few more days!
Got a similar recipe for crow.
Get a large pot of water. Put on fire and heat to boiling. Put in crow and 4 large round river stones. Boil for 4 days adding water as necessary to keep the stones covered. After 4 days throw out the water, what's left of the crow and eat the stones.
