As others have suggested get him a box that he would like.

But in the meantime - get some long and strong ziplock ties and fasten them to your chair legs in a fanning pattern, so it cris crosses the wheel base.

If you were looking down at the chair without the seat part on, the legs will shaped like a X. So tie the zip ties, to fan horizontally out

That way zip ties will make it annoying for the cat to snuggle to close and make him look for the box faster. or if we still prefer to be under your chair, the zip ties will give him a split second more warning that the chair is moving.

Looks like a birman.

Anyway, don't get any cat that you haven't met and liked. Personality is the most important thing to choose somebody who you'll get on with. Also, cats are not alternatives to dogs, they are their own "thing". If you want a dog and get a cat hoping it'll be like a dog, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

I'd also look at getting a fixed chair instead of a roller as well. That will help against any accidental roll overs for when the cat gets bored of the box.

But do the zip tie and water thing too, make it an unpleasant space under the chair.

Yes a ragdoll. Thry have amazing personalities. Eg ours never gets scared, we had a party with lot software strangers picking him up and he loves it. Wants to sit on your lap all the time.

My gf was not a cat person at all and since getting him she now loves cats.

If you had to compare a cat to a dog I would say he almost is one due to his personally. Definitely not skittish or shy like a lot of cats can be.

If you a busy the other thing is these are indoor cats and you can leave them home all day and they will just sleep for 16 to 20 hours. A dog will get bored and be upset.

To go a few breeders first, they all tend to have a similar personality if looked after well. When we got him they were literally all purring and climbing over me for attention.

After a while you just get used to checking under your chair before you roll it back

Never really thought about trying to prevent cats from going under it.

I found another solution in the end, I have another spare chair that I put next to me and he sleeps on that so he is as close as possible.

I also trialled using him as a scarf

Just make sure you visit the breeder first. I know our friend has one and I think they got a dud as she just meows and seems to act like she has was dropped on her head as a kitten, very dumb and doesn't seem to have many emotions other than meowing at you, she is 11 now and hasn't really changed.

Our other friend has 3, one male identical to Alfie, another 2 females, one was a rescue which is a bit shy and skittish but the other one from a breeder and also very calm.

If you go to a breeder and they don't all run over to you for pats, go somewhere else. They have basically had fear bred out of them (hence why you must not let them outside) and don't really ever get upset. Even when I ran over him with my chair a few times he didn't seem to care.

I've had 5 cats and never had one this placid and with a personality this chilled out. But because of this personality if you let them out they will get beaten up and probably killed by a car.

You should keep the cat and ask for your money back.

How much did he cost?

A lot But I did fall for him and not his breed....and it was a pet shop. I guess I can't complain. Although I had my heart set on an affectionate and smoochy kitty to love me. I just ended up with a moody teenager
