Here two so noboundaries doesn;t miss out

noboundaries: tough choice.... if you don't play many games.. just grab a new X2 CPU when you find one cheap somewhere... (probably have to search the for sale forums here and ebay for a 939 version now.... getting rare)

mr_mordred2095: Yep, still a decent machine. But not really much more you can get out of that platform. New 775 system for you! Nice job getting the most out of it though!

I have:

Intel 6400 CPU @ 2.66mhz (can go way higher, but this is fast enough and runs nice and cool)
GIGABYTE 965-S3 v1.0
2gb ADATA 667 RAM
PCI-e ATI x1950 PRO
2 x 320gb RAID 0
1 x 200gb standalone drive
Antec NeoHE-500 PSU

Thats about all the important stuff. I know what I want to upgrade.... Somebody encourage me to do it

BTW, I like games

mrayner definately piss off that ATI card and go for a 8800 series, you can pick up an 8800GT for a pretty reasonable price nowdays, or get a 8800GTX for the win.

Also wack some watercooling on that cpu and crank it up.

Perhaps another 2gb ram if you have Vista in mind any time soon.

My gaming rig.

Asus P5W64
C2D X6800 @ 3.520MHz with 1.35vcore (load) watercooled (swiftech storm)
8800GTX @ 630/1000 bios flashed and watercooled with Swiftech MCW60
Black Ice GTX 240 rad, Swiftech MC655 pump
4gb Gskill 6400HZ
4 X 150gb Raptors raid0
Creative X-fi ExtremeGamer
Silverstone 850W psu
Lian Li full tower case
LG dvdrw
Eizo ColorEdge CE240W
Logitech 6.1 speakers
Vista 64bit & XP Pro dual boot

I'd say so too. Get 2 raptors & put them in Raid 0 and use this as either your boot drive or games drive (or both!!).
If you feel adventurous, you could go down the path of phase change cooling

CPU, then RAM, then GPU... then HDD for more space, then Screen

if you go GPU first, the CPU will bottleneck it, and you will want more ram anyway...

MY BEAST:
GeForce 420 16mb of raw un-adulterated graphics power
Mobile 1.5ghz Celeron from the dark ages (around 2002 when the comp was made)
Massive 20gb HDD
USB 1.0 slots
onboard sound with broken speakers....
256mb of ram (1 stick) - just enough for the memory leaks to make me go into page file without doing anything after loading xp...
CD reader... reads the odd dvd, and doesn't read some cd's.... and the only ting it burn is when it makes random sparkes...
touchpad and laptop keyboard...

Un_OC: wow, you could do with a whole new laptop there. maybe adding some ram, pickup a cheap pentium-m, and a USB2.0 PCMCIA card with a large externam hard-drive would make it last a little longer.

Another system that i use:
Cyrix 486DLC 33Mhz
IICT 387 33MHz FPU
20MB FP RAM
Trident 8900C VGA 1MB

3COM 10Mbps Ethernet

Watercooling? Oh, and change the blue CCFLs over for green. Green is much cooler, everyone has blue. If you must spend money, Asrock dual VSTA and an E6600, so you can still use your old RAM. I wouldn't bother upgrading it, the price of an upgrade isn't worth the performance increase.

My beast is
Pentium 4 2.4ghz, not OC'd
Shithouse intel motherboard that can't OC
Radeon 9600XT (it was the bomb when I got it)
2x512MB RAM (2 slots for RAM on mobo...)
80GB hard drive (does it's job)
5.1ch Sound card that only ever get's used for headphones or 2.1 speakers. That was $50 I'll never get back.
LG L1919S monitor (19" non widescreen) and a Diamond Veiw MEA17something something 17" (dual monitor FTW!!!)

I'm going to upgrade the video card and pass the old one on to my other PC.
