I have to give Guppies a plug as the couple of times I have ordered all has been great. Last week I bought the $18 4 way air pump, 50m of air house and a 3ft bubble wall. Cost me $50 inc delivery and was delivered in two days. The pump is insanely huge and at 9lt/min does the bubble wall justice plus the rest of the stuff in there. Glad I didn't buy the largest one as I was going to. The fish would have thought they were in a spa .

Is the pump noisy?
I've got a Hailea and its quite loud on its own. A constant buzz.

Video of my tank from today. Nubbed it up pretty hard and forgot to mute the background noise from the footage and just whacked music over the top that's a little too long for it. Decors a bit out of whack because I'm making my smaller Severum live with the big boys instead of hiding in a tiny cave all day with me needing to bang the cabinet door so he would realize it was food time.

Gives you a general idea of what Eartheaters do all day. Eat.. earth G. araguari are being quite aggressive at the moment because they're sorting out their pecking order, the larger male you see chasing everywhere should turn out the dominant victor and should hopefully colour up incredibly.

Neat tank!
Looks like the eartheaters hate each other or something.
They actually look a bit like snappers too.

Cheers,

The three new Eartheaters are sorting out whos going to be the boss of the 3 as they're colony breeders. While they can be quite 'aggressive', its only ever minor chasing here and there.

My brother says they look like Bream, which I can see too. Until they get big

Would just link these, but I'll spam them because they're so stunning. These are good photos of bigger specimens of the three species I keep.

A. heckelii

G. altifrons 'Rio Tocantins'

G. araguari 'Orange Heads'

All photos courtesy of an ACE member (would get username but the forums are down), yes I am incredibly jealous of his fish also.

Well it isn't loud but you can still hear it. The bubbles make more noise than it does though .

Japes they do look like breams. If I had fished one out of the water I would have thought it's some other species of it.

Oh ok. Yeah atm the filter sounds louder than the air pump anyway.
Are a cheap Aqua One pump good enough?

Cheers mate (you remember me from vF WoW? Hah)

That substrate is river sand that I acquired locally (and illegally). It's basically like standard fresh water sand, with the small pebbles, little chunks of wood, even got a couple of small mussel shells in there.

That shows it off quite well. I'll never use another substrate unless it's Bunnings Play Sand (ultra fine stuff).

Does anyone know where to source a good range of freshwater tropical fish in the western sydney area?

Btw japes I saw some eartheaters at the lfs.
They were small ones. I'm comtemplating getting them after seeing your video of them chasing each other.
Are they aggressive? Can I keep them with neons, guppies and silver sharks?
I'll google it up anyways.

Most species are reasonably hardy, but grow large (requiring decent sized tanks) and are more of a specialty Cichlid. I Wouldn't recommend them to beginners. They aren't aggressive at all, just chasy. Will eat smaller fish that fit into their mouths (occasionally).

If you have a decent sized tank and want to keep Cichlids, look into species like Firemouth, Blue Acara, etc. If you do want eartheaters, I'd recommend G. brasiliensis, easy to find, grow quite large, and are very hardy.

Thanks for the heads up japes.

Now just a newbie question, again, lol.
Where in Sydney/ Australia can I buy pure ammonia for the fishless cycling?
I've looked high and low and did not find a good definite answer.
