I reckon I'll do the same. I'd hate to go through the same as I did with WoW - rapid burnout and boredom.

Hopefully there's a trial period, that would probably give me my gameplay fix.

Loving the trailers, but the gameplay looks really really disappointing. As much as I'm a starwars freak, I'm holding off on this until I hear nothing but glowing praise from everyone, not just die-hard sw fans.

I'll be dissapointed if the are enforcing the use of the origin download manager to play this.

Steam is the only Online shop I want/need.

I'll be 1 less sub if Origin is forced upon me.

There is a rumor going around that the Aus/NZ version is going to be delayed later then US/EU versions. Would suck seeing as how story driven it is, it would be hard to avoid spoilers for a few months.

No comment from EA/BioWare yet so hopefully it turns out to be false.

So far as I've read, it's only a rumour.

It was started by Hex of GoodGame on her Twitter feed because the EA rep in Australia cancelled an interview they were putting together with words apparently alluding to a delay or some such.

Nothing has come directly from Bioware nor has anything come from EA outside of Australia.

The rumour is being perpetuated through a Fairfax journalist printing something today as well.

I don't put much ground on the rumour. It's unlikely that there'd be a delay given all the cinematic and gameplay fruit that Bioware are releasing on the game for E3. There's now time for a bit more polish and hopefully a pre-Christmas launch.

Yeah man, i know how you feel.

I'd put my money on a 2012 release date.

I'm hoping they push a release date so i can put down a US preorder somewhere before the CE's sell out or something equally annoying.

firstly,
hex has a twitter account? and 2, she's actually not a talking head journalist graduate ? yikes. given that premise, still doesn't feel like a legitimate news source, even if it's merely speculatory.

I'd put stock into the rumour just purely due to the EA representatives in Australia being so very detached from the pricing and Marketing structure of US Origin / EA Store policies (and also Steam's foreign market pricing, foreign market release dates, etc) for every game on the Origin/EA Store since 2005 and all the other Direct Download stores.

Why do i draw this conclusion ? Origin/EA still has RRP pricing on older and newer games that are cheaper in most aus stores.
they seem less likely to be in any position to know anything at all about the segmentation and release information in advance of any firm release date

I can't imagine EA Store being cheaper than retail unless it's promotional, and Mass Effect 3 vis Origin/EA Store fails to promote the inevitable Origin/EA Store DLC sales in Australia just due to draconian pricing/DRM.

I do think EA will delay the release, but it won't be purposeful, just incidental.

I also don't have confidence in Origin/EA Store being useful for Australian users at all, and if it's not purely a hindrance to Australians once SWTOR comes out, it will be an active DRM agent at worst, integrating authentication checks for Australian Origin/EA users, or even possibly retail copies requiring Origin/EA Store activation.

The larger problem with EA Australia and SWTOR is how they will handle monthly/quarterly subscriptions.

Having EA Australia deal with the inexplicable latency of dealing with a US department that likely has no competence with subscription based games, the second, when the BioWare/EA subscription system is integrated locally, as to how that will just work in Australia.

Will even the box versions require this?
