i might do the same thing, since i prefer using mouse and keyboard in these style games anyway.
ROFL, mancave .

You would think keyboard/mouse would be useable on the PS3 and the addon to the PS3 controller (the lil keyboard). But to chat/bind etc gonna be a lot easier to use PC.

Gotta say i havent been following this game too much due to how many mmo's these days show promise and then fail in the end. I read the other day on a site that the graphics are by far the best of any mmo to date. Is that true so far? I saw some beta footage and it didnt look all that impressive. Combat looked really slow too.

Graphics are good, gameplay is still average at best.

They had better have some badass improvements coming during the open beta. The final fantasy brand alone may not be enough to help get this off the ground when it goes retail if the gameplay stays the way it is.

is it like a generic MMO?

closer to 'traditional' FF?

what?

Care to give more details about the gameplay or can't due to closed beta rules? Also how is the battling?

EDIT: Opened thread last night, just came to this tab now, looks like someone else already asked for more details above me

no auto attacks, everything you do, you need to input. even blocking with your shield is not a random number, you actually have to put it up.

speed wise, in the last beta (#3) it was sped up so you may of seen footage of something from beta #2. definitely not slow. also all these vids seem to be of somebody soloing a single mob, try a group leve/quest and see how many things are going on and manage that.

1 more day till open beta woo

Didn't know about it! What world are the people who are already playing here on OCAU or other Aussies?

Just had a quick look at the EU site and it took forever to load and still had issues, have to go to work. Anyone got a link for the Open Beta so I can have a look this afternoon?

Open beta client launcher is here:

http://dl.square-enix.co.jp/ffxiv/do...ffxivsetup.exe

or

http://www.fileplanet.com/215249/210...-Beta-Launcher

Its around 100mb for the launcher and then it will need to download 4.5gb or so for the actual client. Godspeed

FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test Postponed: Follow-up

We would like to take this opportunity to provide an update regarding the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, which was announced to be postponed on Aug. 31, 2010.

A critical issue where the client software for the open beta test would not respond on certain rare occasions has been addressed. As of now, we are in the final stages of preparation for the start of the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test.

A new schedule will be released at a later date. Until then, we ask for your patience in this matter.
