The beta patch is too slow. Not going to bother.
5.2GB @ 200kb/s is far too slow.

The guild wars 2 patcher was going at 2.6MB/s
It was lightning fast in comparison!

Based on the last beta i'm not that interested in subbing first month. If i recall, 'clunky' was the word i used for most of the combat.

Can't login to the beta, disconnect between client account and tsw/funcom account.
Weird, worked fine previous beta.

Funcom'd.

Failcom was what AoC players called it.

In any case it cant be as bad as DCUO.... or can Failcom compete with SoE for that title?

I played a few hours today and have changed my mind, I am really enjoying it.

There are some things that annoy me such as the quest system and the fact that all factions basically start in the same zone... but otherwise the setting and story is fantastic, combat is 'ok' and not being spoon fed is great also.

A good stop-gap until GW2 anyway.

I've uninstalled it.

I've heard the PVP is ok. But i couldnt really get over that unfinished feel of the game in general.

The animations were clunky.
The music was average.
Combat felt half-assed.
Buttons can be unresponsive.
Movement is rigid.
Investigative missions were great (except for the asshats that spoil it in general chat)
Skills system is innovative but likely end up the same as a levelling system (grind XP).
AI Pathfinding was buggy.
Quests and interactive items were buggy beyond the first area of Kingsmouth. If they're only beta testing parts of the game, i cant wait to pay-to-beta-test the full game.... not.
Falling through the terrain into a black pit = no way to escape without GM help = fun!
Patch/Downloader is too slow for the large number of issues/bugs i've seen. This sounds petty but the state of the game its in players will see lots of micro-ninja patches, some big fucking patches, or no patches because FUncom cant be assed and fires the dev team post launch to balance the budget next year.

I'm bias because of Funcom's previous games.

I'm still enjoying it, I haven't played it much since the first weekend as I don't wont to spoil it before launch - but I had a quick look at PvP and whatnot this weekend.

The persistent PvP region seems okay, but I could see it becoming annoying if there ends up being huge faction imbalances. The world domination buff for your faction is a nice touch.

I don't see that double tap dodging adds anything to the combat, but lots of people asked for it and they added it ... so I guess that shows they are listening. The character creator is also a lot better and they've made some headway adding tutorials to early missions so people coming from WoW-alikes aren't thrown so much by the questing system.

I'm a bit concerned that it won't appeal to a broad enough audience and will see poor post-launch support as a result though - it's also still difficult to judge how much content will be there at launch.

If all the factions have to do the same missions, what is the point of them in the first place?

Yeh played the beta on the weekend and it definitely felt smoother and more polished, but I still can't see it as a pay per month title. GW2 seemed a lot better as an overall game yet won't have a sub.

The three factions are at war with each other, but there are a number of 'end of the world' type catastrophes unfolding that are in all three factions best interest to stop.

So the factions are all addressing the same problems, but they approach the missions differently. The templar are all about the greater good and taking the fight to evil regardless of the cost, the illuminati will be trying to spin the situations to their advantage and profit from them, while the dragon will be doing random stuff and trying to maintain balance. Same missions, different motivations and often different results.

There are also a couple of faction specific missions, a bunch of faction specific lore and the various pvp regions that can be captured and controlled by factions to give dimension wide buffs.
