That's because they're all the same. Hell, even Macs are just x86 boxes these days.

Back in the 80's, different manufacturers meant different hardware from the ground up. There was real diversity, and it was heaps of fun.

ringtones and alarm tone on my phone since I got a mobile in mid 2009

Battle Squadron - title music
Xenon - boss music
Full Contact - Title music
Jaguar XJ2200 - Title music

I also have many tracks from other Amiga games in my mp3 playlist.
Sound was just one of the things that was just sooooo much better on the Amiga than all other computers out there until they started putting CD audio into PC games.

Midi music on pc games.. roflcopter.....

A vague comparison....

dune II on pc - released 1992

Alien Breed release 1991 on Amiga.

Loved my Amigas.

Had an Amiga 500, Next came the A1200 with a 030 Card and one of those Rare to get High Res Monitors.

Later got a CD32 which was stolen when my house was burgled.

Funny thing was I sold my High Res monitor 3 years after I bought it for more money than I paid for it. I was digging through some old documents the other day and found a 3 page letter I wrote to Commodore. I was very passionate about my Amigas

I still have my A500 and the old 1084 monitor, some Wico Control sticks and boxes of disks and Amiga Format Magazines -> good times

I was so stoked when I got my A500. *sigh*

Honestly, I think the problem with the Amiga was that it was too good. No, seriously. It's not the only time tech has been shunned for precisely that reason.

Good times.

I read somewhere that the keyboard/a500 chassis can be cleaned in a peroxide bath.

I'm sure a lot of people wondered who the person was who I had as my 'idol' in my yr12 yearbook too, I can't remember her name but she was the project lead for the CDTV project (Gillian someone??)

Exactly. They were years ahead of their time (18 months after the b & w macintosh came out - which itself was a quantum leap) and pushed the envelope of home computing to set the standard.
As a teenager when I saw one at a expo I couldnt believe how cool it was, and what it could do.
That being said, whilst i got enjoyment out of it, nothing to the extent that I got from the C64...

Awesome, awesome machine. Not much else has come close to really making me stop and look....though the xbox 1 running Halo in 2001 did have a big effect on me :-)

The A500 was my first PC.

I remember the first time I turned it on, how my parents stood beside me both equally as excited as I was. *sigh* to be new with computers again, where you felt you had all the time in the world to learn how to create things.

I don't think kids these days would experience this anymore. People are now born with computers in their homes, and parents are familiar with PC's.

edit:

Best joystick ever! Wico Command Control!
After going through 10 or more joysticks this one was the one that lasted till the day I stopped playing Amiga. I still have mine at my parents house, I'll have to go there and grab it.

+1
Went through joysticks regularly till i got a Wico. Some didn't even last a month of heavy use. Still have 2 Wico working as good as they were when i bought them. Same as the ibm model M keyboard, built to last...
