You are helping your team more as a scout by spotting them, than camping. As a low tier tank, the best thing you can do is spot the opposite team as much as possible to give your arty a shot. Whilst doing it, either shoot them up the arse or track them.

Been playing this game far too much

My garage currently consists of a pz35t, marder II, stug, panzer III/IV, panzer IV, VK3002DB and a panther. Out of those, I probably have the most fun in the pz35t shooting up tier 1 tanks

The problem here is that the only encourageable way (where there is reward) is for a scout to basically run headlong at the enemy right from the start and hope the arty is setup ready and IN RANGE to take advantage of your reveals [due to the way xp is awarded].

The better way for a scout is to focus on preserving themselves because the enemy is going to reveal themselves quickly (by shooting) or have known initial line position (anyone tier 5 or over should be familiar with maps, starting positions, good cover positions on both sides and lastly general speed [plus usually where a line will collect before doing a push]).
You should know this at any rate because i do and can even successfully predict where/when a line changes it's schwerpunkt (focal point) and i'm no genius or natural stratician.

So to what point you ask?
Well the point of preservation of the scout is to break the mid game stalemate once natural losses on both sides have opened up holes in the defensive line simply by how much ground must be covered and to utilize this breach to allow identification of artillery location or forewarning for a moving column frontline after it becomes apparent they have managed to break down 'the wall'.

The biggest problem i see in random matches is that the first assualt gets bogged down and while the players sit there trying to eek a few more feet for the frontline the war is lost on a different front.
Theres 2 things a scout can do to help and neither involves you trying to assist that frontline directly.
Scouts often break through to get artillery, because you too are a scout you can try to chase these low damage buggers down while the main column can ignore them and focus on pinning the enemy, or you can get yourself into a position where the enemies mainline will not traverse but that will still allow you to get visual on troop movement thus allowing artillery support to provide intermediate support in pinning an advance through area's without prime line coverage.
I might add 75mm guns are not worth revealing your location by using, if you want to hunt arty get a mid so you'll survive glancing blows, a spall liner to help with people aiming at your tracks and a short range 105mm cannon.
You will be fast enough when upgraded, agile + small enough to dodge effectively and well the disadvantage of accuracy is tempered by the fact you will get a disproportionate advantage from getting up close (long range scatter for the long barrel 75cms is obscene and even with a crew at 110% training realistically is equivalent to barely trained cadets given an artillery peice and told to hit balloons).
Besides as i always quip even if i score a hit only once a game > it's a good game and trust me i never seem to fail to get a kill at least.

The game has many failings from experience mainly due to map size, terrain variation, troop size, composition and the inherent failings of the exponential xp/silvers development.
Nonetheless enjoy your new addiction and i hope to see more people out there go the skill route and take on the medium class scout role , mainly cause it means i wont have to rush using my heavily equiped tier 6 mid as much and can focus on killing the enemy.

Yep it is. But there will be a full wipe on release, so everyone will be on a level playing field.

Dont forget it's a Free to play game but yes premium is a little expensive considering how little is in the game atm regardless of that I got a heavy package

Works out to about $8.70 AUD a month ATM with the pre order packages.

I picked up the heavy pre-order. It's probably the only gold I'll ever buy for this game, so I figured I'd make the most of it :P

This looks cool.

Can I have ago at this before buying it? I already got a iRacing monthly sub, don't know if I could do with another one.

Is there a online trial or something? Can't find one.

It's free to play. You pay money for optional bonuses ie faster experience gain, ammunition with higher penetration values etc.

As of the 12th, you can go straight to the main page, sign up for an account, download the client and start playing.

You could sign up for the beta which is currently running, but it would probably be a waste of your time, as there will be a complete wipe on Tuesday when the game officially launches.

Can never get the stupid thing to work, registered twice, downloaded all the right software, everytime I try to log in it says my username or password is wrong.
