don't "need" to keep the hospital/quarantine tank running, you can always take water from the tank the fish was in (temp and cleanly-ness will cause less stress too) and treat it like a water change.

a $8 kettle from aldi will heat up plenty of fresh water for a small tank in no time.
in the middle of winter it takes the edge off the new fresh water about to go in for a weekly change too
