Default Google will add an ad blocker to all versions of Chrome web browser

Google will add an ad blocker to all versions of Chrome web browser

This fucking "acceptable ads" bullshit is going too far.

To me there's almost no such thing.

Quote:
The Wall Street Journal just dropped a shocker of a report: Google, the biggest web advertising company in the world, is planning to build an ad blocker into Google Chrome, the world's most popular web browser. The ad blocker will reportedly end up in the desktop and mobile versions of Chrome and would be switched on by default.

If true, this report suggests a major conflict of interest for Google. Today Chrome covers over 50 percent of the browsing market, according to Net Market Share, and Google would kill its income if it started blocking Google ads. Of course, Google won't block Google ads. Instead, according to the report, Chrome will target "unacceptable ads" as defined by the Coalition for Better Ads. The Coalition for Better Ads, which counts Google and Facebook among its members, has a page of "least preferred ad experiences" up on its website. This page calls out pop-ups, autoplaying video ads with sound, interstitial ads with countdowns, and large "sticky" ads as "below the threshold of consumer acceptability."

Yep - there's no threat to Google there at all ! They aren't blocking any of their OWN revenue streams... and as other ads will be blocked, advertisers may chose to pay an additional premium for "google OK" ads...

I'd be happier if (free) YouTube scaled back their freakin ads - WAY to intrusive now. Just try making a music video playlist and see how much you enjoy it.... It will be "not much".

The new facebook mobile ones are the worst by far. They start unexpectedly part way through the video so even if I'm enjoying the video I have to close the app to get rid of the ad.

But yeah, fuck google's idea of this. Adsense and youtube ads are the worst anyway. I look at one thing on kogan's site or whatever and their adsense ads follow me around the internet for 2 weeks straight until I almost kill myself. (And this is just because I use a work PC which adblocker cant be installed on)

I'd be happy if this means less annoying "YOUR PC IS INFEKTED" messages when I'm browsing thepiratebay for royalty free and freeware material.

Yeah, Youtube has gone way too far with their Ads, so much so, you can now buy "Red" or whatever they are trying to flog off to you.

The Ad space is ridiculous, Google makes a killing, oh wells, at least this will stop one of those news sites with their shit auto play videos, man they are the worst.
