I really enjoy Civ. Problem is that it's hard to find the time to play Civ and iRacing whilst keeping Her Indoors and the kids happy! Although it's always easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission

Have never finished a game. Get about 75% through. Get bored. Start again.

I used to be like that until I started playing the harder difficulties. Really makes you rage about the crap AI but it is more enjoyable. Been smashing out a couple diety games. 2/3. Having crap diplomacy options limits the game so much. After beating the vanilla and god and king expansion I need this brave new world! Game mechanics need a nice kick up the arse! |

So, is gods and kings worth it?
I can 'upgrade' my civ 5 to the civ 5 gold edition for $20, which includes gods and kings and a whole bunch of map packs. Also, I haven't played a multiplayer game before, but when i play a single player game it often takes 6+ hours for a single game, often up to 18 hours. This of course is not done it one sitting. Is online mulitplayer similar? |

Multiplayer is essentially the same game, so yeah, it can take a very long time. You can play quick games on tiny maps, but in my eyes that kinda misses the point.

Thanks guys. Yes i will be buying it tonight. Im still learning alot that civ5 has to offer, wouldn't like to try and learn two dlcs at the same time lol.
Pricing is quite strange, i can upgrade civ5 to the gold edition for $20 and get g&k and a bunch of map packs, or i can buy g&k separately for $49.99 lol. Quick game on tiny map to me is a bit pointless for a game like this. I generally play the largest map but with only 10 civs and 24 city states. Start at the earliest era with time win disabled. Games can go for quite along time lol. Another question, i have read a few guides that recommend certain civs for different size empires, small medium or large. But none state how many city's are considered a small medium or large empire. I generally play with America, Japan, or random. So my question is, how many city's should i have? I have found 2 to 5 and i get hammered. 5 to 10 i go alright, more then that and i have major happiness problems. Man there is alto to learn in this game lol. |

the following info will help you both out
Some broad overviews of G&K http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=464730 Civilizations and their Leaders breakdown (awesome read http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...21246142#10404 (give the guy a good Rating as it would've taken ages to type that up) check out the Steam Guides: SHIFT TAB when in game or http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...121059162#9185 and thats the start of the research |

No don't. I did this a few weeks ago, and it was a waste of $20. AI is still shite, the maps are awefully boring, and while religion is a welcome addition the whole game is still a big fat meh. I have never cared for any of my Civ V civs like I have cared for my Civ IV civs - ie never finished a game. Anyways, Civ V was uninstalled a few days later.
