The APU's are based on Excavator though, Raven Ridge are the Zen / Vega based ones.

Easily the G4560 is still the best lowest cost CPU (if you can find one). But the R3's really compete with the i3's and for the price they are better (depending on the task) or at least very similar (in gaming). Plus can overclock! For content creators or designers looking for a low cost quad core, and can use an existing GPU or want to buy a GPU for hardware acceleration anyway it seems the better choice, but I will admit I hoped the R3 would be faster than it is in single thread stuff.

The up and coming APU's may be the chips competing more with the Celeron/Pentiums (and the i3's if you need the IGP)...decent CPU performance combined with decent IGP performance for any basic builds Won't be amazing but will get better once they come out with a Zen based APU. Right now I'd still be buying a Pentium for builds on the tightest budget if you are using a dedicated GPU, and either the Pentium/i3 if you have no use for a dedicated GPU. If you have a little bit more $$ to spare over the Pentium and will be running a dedicated GPU the R3 is the way to go.

Alienware Area-51 Threadripper first look and cinebench benchmark. Interesting they just have a small 120mm AIO cooler on it.

Hi guys,

AMD Ryzen 1600
ASRock AB350M-PRO4
16GB DDR4 Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15

I am looking at purchasing this combo. Has anyone had any experience with OCing with this ram and motherboard? Preferably trying to reduce price if possible

For OCing you are really going to want a better board and if you OC on that board it would be a good idea to keep volts down

Edit: Also 6 caps over 9 phases seems odd given it's normally 2 per phase

Power delivery quality is still a concern as cheap boards I imagine will struggle with 1.45v

Having issues wit Gskill 3200 mhz ram runs fine at 2400 , any higher I get a kernel panic (Linux mint 18.2 on a 4.10.0-28 kernel ). other than that fine
