Something sketchy with the figures there. Why would the 12 core chip have ~20% better single thread performance than then 10 core?

doesn't make business sense to release something if there is no competition.
either way we ALL have exciting times ahead with these releases !
AMD OR INTEL

Question is, should someone who just had their x79 mobo completely die on them be smart to upgrade to X99 now because they can't wait? Or will X299 really be much better?

wait for x299 imo, its not worth upgrading to a platform that's about to be replaced.

I was in this exact situation

I had a 3930k @ 4.66ghz

my mobo died last friday. So I bought a Ryzen system

I am regretting this decision now

should have stuck with intel

X299 has made z270 and x99 redundant. Hype is real.

Attached is the ASRock x299 OC Formula, direct from Computex.

so coffee lake is 6 core for pleb socket?
how many mem channels?

i remember hearing someone say that, intel said triple channel is needed if 6 core is to max out mem bandwidth (yes I know, not everyone will need all that mem bandwidth)... if intel bring out 6 core with dual channel.... lulz, lame

What's it not doing that an Intel system did?

Dual channel is most certainly enough for 6 cores and 6+8MB L3.
