Default Can you find out who the OEM of a hard drive is?

I've got a seagate momentus hard drive thats no longer working. I went on the seagate page to check if it had warranty and it said that it was a OEM drive. Is it possible at all to find out who that OEM was?

Thanks

I would have to say, yes it's a good possibility that someone can trace a hard drive from a serial to a OEM but I'm not aware of any public database with that information however.

What are you trying to achieve?

can almost guarantee it was a hdd stripped from either a name brand PC OR an external HDD. Thus no warranty for you either way.

If you gave her a shovel and a bus ticket to Kalgoorlie, then yes, it's possible.

Given that the Momentus is a laptop hard drive the OEM is probably the laptop manufacturer. Ask them about the warranty.
