I think it's reasonable to conclude that it could be a long, long time before we ever, (if ever), see a truly pocketable camera with interchangeable lenses.

It's one or the other with mirrorless being the inbetweeners.

Nikon J1 + 10mm pancake fits in my pocket, and I wear skinny ish jeans. The 10-30mm is a smidge too long

Is it too late to say I meant with an APS-C sensor

I'm really considering a NEX 3 or 5/5N as a backup camera. Adapters like this make them so versatile plus they're much more affordable than these new mirrorless cameras

I don't know how heavy that lens is normally but perhaps it's a lens mug?

2) First goal is to reach a 15% of the mirrorless market share in Japan (by October).
3) Shutter from the EOS DSLR series has been minaturzized to fit into the EOS-M
4) GX1 sales are still strong (production is 30.000 units per month).
5) A Four Thirds sensor would bring an even further advantage in miniaturization but Canon wanted to make it fully EOS compatible.
6) We chosed to have Phase detection pixel on sensor because that technology works better than COntrast AF on moving objects.
7) EOS-M mount can NOT accomodate a FULL FRAME sensor. And there is no plan for a FF mirrorless.
8) No plan for now to make an adpater for FD lenses.

Interesting. They also said the main target are women
Not surprising but still slow off the mark.

Its not as good as the other eos dslrs if it has the controls of Canons bottom end point and shoots though. I would really like to see if that ring around the shutter can be used like the front jog wheel on every eos dslr because at the moment it looks like a waste of space with the mode dial. I originally thought that the dial could at least be a full one like the proper dslrs, but then I wondered is this something that needs to continue? I use the mode dial fairly often but having it on camera with touch may free up real estate for other buttons? (on future designs)

Any videos confirming what that dial does? Is it really just a mode dial instead of a useful ring?

I was thinking no chance but then perhaps the canon badge alone will sell it....
It just seems too "basic" to interest me at all. Maybe a play with one and it'll seem better. If theyre targeting women then maybe they have a better chance of market share.... Does it come in pink

Good, now get it actually working Cant view the latest dcwatch video ATM, but that Italian one had painfully slow AF :s
