Hi all!
My friend and I are making a Youtube video that needs some decent voice overs and unfortunately we're no longer able to borrow the microphone we had lined up to record the voice overs (RODE NT1-A). It's a bit of a long shot, but I was wondering if anybody on OCAU would be generous enough to lend us a decent quality microphone to record a few voice overs for this video we're making. Something along the lines of one of those Blue Yeti USB mics would be perfect, although we aren't picky! We were hoping to be able to get the recording done at some point in the next fortnight (hopefully before the end of the month!) and would only need it for an afternoon. In Adelaide, happy to meet up with anyone within an hour or so of the CBD if it means we can borrow a mic! Thanks! |

I have a heap of mics but nothing USB and I will be heading back to the mines for 2 weeks first thing in the morning. I will be back on the 5th of next month if you wish to wait and use something.
You will need a pre-amp or something to connect something like a SM58 to your computer. |

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping to be able to find something and get it done before the end of this month, but if that doesn't work out I'll let you know!
Anyone else out there who could possibly help? |

As long as you are using a decent pre and converters, any reasonable dynamic mic (such as a Shure SM58 or SM57) will yield very good results. If you plan on doing a few of these things, you can usually find an SM57 for around $100.00 and I highly recommend them for everything.
Sometimes the capacitor mics don't work so well unless the room is sound treated properly. |
