whats a good method of clamping down the IHS to the PCB after applying silicon? i dont have a delid tool etc

I also don't have a relid tool. I use a 3D printed delid tool (MortarArt sells them for <$20) to delid.

For relidding, I have a modified $3 Officeworks clipboard. I've shortened it simply because it didn't need to be so long, and cut a hole in it for the circuits at the bottom of the chip to sit in so it sits flat.

The clamp is only a medium pressure, doesn't need to be particular strong. I actually chose it because the large clamp and medium pressure make it a lot easier than a more powerful clipboard clamp. I simply lift the clamp, slide the CPU+IHS under it until it drops into the hole, and gently let it close. 20 minutes is sufficient time for bathroom silicon to get sufficient grab to install on a board.

delidded my 7700k by a fellow forum member
i must say very impressed
i shaved off 4 degrees on idle
and 20 degrees on load

i dont understand why intel became lazy when creating the IHS on these chips why didnt they just solder it on like SB?

Hi guys, I've got a 6700k and I really don't know if its worthwhile o/c further and delidding.

Ive got it running at 4.6 atm, and voltage is set on 'auto' up to 1.5 or something. Seems to be pretty stable. Im interested in delidding because I wouldn't mind getting the temps at idle down lower (atm its about 45 degrees on idle on a Dark Rock Pro 2 cooler from BeQuiet).

Secondly, I don't know how much performance I can eek out of it. Im hoping to hit 5.

Thoughts?
Anyone in Syd willing to do it for a small fee?
Cheers.

Manually set volts to 1.35 and try running 46x multi. Or try and set a negative offset of .1v and see how that goes. 1.5 is heaps of volts for 46x. Mine is currently running 45x @1.28v and it is nothing special.

Haven't bothered delidding the warranty is worth more to me than chasing down temps when it only hits 60 max in BF1.
