Yeah it is. If you have a Mac, you can try this program for MOV files. If you have a PC, try this process instead.

There's another tool which is bringing great results, but it changed from freeware to being about $130, it's called "HD video repair utility" There are some tricks you can read about with this program here.

I just tried GetdatabackForNTFS, had no success, it could recover my smaller files, but not any .mkvs (largers files) I wonder if they have been overwritten already.
