Cant compare as isn't a PC version but Uncharted 4 has incredible graphics 1080/30 (I think) on aging ps4, no way would a Radeon HD7850 do anything even close.

I agree X should stick to 1080p and great graphics, but 4k is the new shiny thing to lure people in.

Perhaps they should have an option for 1080p max detail, 4k reduced detail and let people pick.

Uncharted 4 is 1080p with 24-30fps in single player and 900p in multiplayer.

Thats quite a low fps don't you think?

Also remember that this is the naughty dog engine which has never been on PC.

for a HD7850 equivalent and the kind of visuals, I am pretty impressed..

I honestly don't think they've really thought out this generationless approach.

I prefer mass overkill on hardware like 360/ps3 and MS/Sony to take a hit on each console sold, those things were beasts at launch.. but they realised cheaper/less powerful updates makes much more money

Just to touch on the different types of engines and what the naughty dog engine likely is..

If you design a game engine to do one type of game where nothing is simulated and its all scripted, lighting might be faked, AI is scripted etc then its going to perform very very well.

If you use an engine like Unreal or Frostbite etc where nearly everything is simulated accurately its going to cost a lot more processing power and can potentially look a lot more realistic.

This doesn't stop the first engine from looking amazing, just be aware that the first engine has crazy limitations.

So yes I do think Uncharted and the last of us would perform very well on PC and nearly as well as it does on PS4.

If I was wrong then we would have unreal/frostbite games performing crazy well on PS4, which we don't.

Is it because frostbite/unreal were made for PC's and became a bad port for consoles? I know bf4 runs pretty poop on ps4!

ND are very efficient, that's why they can do what they do.

This is exactly why there is so much confusion and wrong information about what is optimised and what is not.

To the untrained eye Battlefield 4 might look and act the same as Planetside 2.

In reality Battlefield 4 has a lot more calculations going on to make the game look and feel the way it does.

Physics, lighting, shading, map size, dynamic objects, tickrate, the list goes on and on.

We could all go back to the Source engine end enjoy all our games at 300fps with really nice graphics if you guys want, just expect a lot of limitations.

http://au.ign.com/articles/2017/06/1...ments-detailed

"We’re running at 4K 30FPS for Campaign/Horde and 4K 60FPS for Versus with adaptive scaling to ensure a rock-solid frame rate that fans expect from our head to head multiplayer"

Although it seems like rather than just bump the res, they also added higher res textures, better shadows, HDR, better reflections, etc... so it looks better even if you're on a 1080p TV.

Wonder if PC version will get/has already got those extras? Wouldnt surprise me if they try make the X do something that windows 10 gaming cannot.

Adaptive scaling is great just would suck dropping from 4k to 1080p on the fly, blurfest!

Is your brain locked at 50% capacity? Because its not locked at 30 in any way.

Sorry I meant about how many games still will be locked to 30fps... You know, to not play favourites with other platforms..... Except on a PC with similar spec still can!?

Starting with Destiny 2:
