Default Post Winter Blues - Where to Go

Me, Wife, 2 Kids, 6 and 3.
Live in SA
Severe case of Winter blues.

Can Stretch to about $3K if required, would prefer less.
Need a Holiday

Requirements
- In Australia (No Passports)
- Something for the Kids to do
- Somewhere Sunny
- A week

So far, Taking the Kids and hitting up the Goldy for Theme park madness has been the only real option, It's cliche, but I'm struggling to come up with anything realistically better.

Pls Halp OCAU, you're the only hope I have for regaining some sanity.

What about a trip around the Whitsundays? Or to one of the resort islands there?

How are they for kids stuff? I'd scratched them from the list due to costs.

Looking likely, Groupon have 5 Nights at Seaworld for $999 including Park Entry to the Seaworld Parks which seems pretty good. I'd only need to Pay Flights, Transport and Dreamworld Tickets (Depending on how the kids go).

Definitely cater for kids, one of the islands put on a show for the kids while we were there. They are just resorts at the end of the day, so they try and cater for all generally. But rest assured there's plenty for the kids to do.

I've pretty much settled on doing the Goldy Theme park thing with the Kids.

I know schoolies is Late November, how "schoolied' is it, in the weeks leading up to the official start of the "Schoolies" festival?
