Default Macbook Covers

Does anyone use the speck or similar covers on there macbook air or macbook pro?

Do the help protect the laptop?
Haven't lead to the case scratching the macbook?

Been looking at getting one but don't know if to get one off the apple website or try ebay.

I have a speck cover on my 15 inch MBP.

Works great and has kept it looking good as new
