Once, twice and away.

(Schoolyard marble players will get this reference, might have been a North Queensland thing only)

Keeping the hands moving. Then again I think I'll leave them in the hands of the grandkids.

I made three of these

Although, my final outer diameter was only 55mm, so still manageable for spinning in the hand. Have one at home, and one on my hot-swap desk at work. It's so cool to spin each layer individually and see the gearing of the ratio of bearings.

It's got a nice solid weight to it.

My missus last Christmas bought me a replica weighted spinning top from Inception. I think it's made out tungsten. It sits on my desk, too.

Shopped around on eBay for different bearings that had matching ID to OD. Luckily they all just press-fitted together with a little bit of tamping. Only one set had a very slight mis-match, so I just hit with a touch of silicone adhesive.
The second video I posted shows the construction of them.

Note that being relatively small at 55mm diameter, they're not balanced too well. The ones in the video are monster ones, and would weigh quite a lot. The weight is what helps with the gyroscopic balancing.

*EDIT* Here's the shopping list: (IDxODxWidth) [bearing code]

4x9x4mm [684]
9x17x5mm [689]
17x30x7mm [6903]
30x55x13mm [6006]

I tried finding those parts listed in the video description, but they were either unavailable here in Aus, or too expensive, so I had to find my own stackable sets.

Hmmm! Might have to price it up. Hopefully the grandkids are sick of them soon though.

might not bother with the batarang spinner simply because people have stated it's a piece of shit and it can be considered a weapon so better be safe then in jail I guess.

Then in jail?

In America, that is likely to happen

We 3D printed fidget spinners at school at the end of last term. Students designed their own (all failed). Then we just let them choose on already designed and printed it.

Less then 2 weeks later they were all banned. hahahaha

I think it cost me $50 delivered for all parts to make three of them.
