I'll definitely be getting this, if only for the controllers. EB seems to be fluctuating between out of stock and in stock and I can't select pick up from a store either.

Can someone do me a favour? Could you please measure the dimensions for the box for the SNES mini? I'd like to know how big it is and if it'd fit in a parcel locker.

It's a true mini replica of the original and imo, it's aesthetically better than the NES. I just hate the tiny controller, hence it's more of a collectors item than a machine for serious playing (well, the SNES mini is the one I foresee that I will play more anyway )

It's currently available on EB as I'm typing this.

I didn't realize how small the box was until I picked it up at Gamesmen. It's smaller than I had anticipated.

Anyone have a link for the mini snes on EB's site?

Or are they out of stock again?

I already own one, but have a couple friends that are wanting one.

Edit: Never mind, using the Big W link, thanks StratosFear

Really enjoying the console, though I seem to suck a ton at the games LOL

As I said earlier, there's a technique per game. You need to work that out, and adapt to the game.

A lot of modern games are very homogenous. Compare any modern FPS and any other modern FPS, and the controls and physics are all very similar. Yes, there's unique elements in every game, but the bigger the industry gets, the more it seems to just whitewash everything and lose that individuality of old games. More and more you can just brute force your way through modern games without a whole lot of domain-specific skill. (Again, there are exceptions, but they are small in number).

Even the physics in Super Mario Brothers 1 through 4 were all dramatically different per game. Each one required very different skills, and took a lot to teach your muscle memory.

"Easy to pick up, hard to master" as they say. I can finish some of these SNES games in under an hour, but it took me years of gameplay to learn how to do that.

Mega Man comes to mind. The level designers for those games are cruel at times...
