I've been having an absolute field day getting NBN set up for my mum. The area is a greenfield, with the house being one of merely a handful that have been built so far, and copper isn't an option for the area. Hers was completed in September '16. The house is one of a handful in Warrnambool getting FTTP. Here's our mess so far;

22/03/17 - Signed up for MyRepublic
24/03/17 - NBN Tech appointment confirmation
24/04/17 - Internal Network Shortfall (or so NBN tell me, fixed the same day, this was meant to be our appointment date)
??/05/17 - Tech came out, needed wires ran by an electrician, that was done 2 days later. Rang them to get the next appointment up.
14/06/17 - Scheduled to turn up... again... no sign of them. Rescheduled again
19/06/17 - Scheduled to turn up... no sign again. Rang up to find out they "didn't have the right hardware". Rescheduled
03/07/17 - Another appointment missed. The excuse this time is one of the team was sick. Rescheduled again
07/07/17 - Spoke with MyRepublic and NBN directly. Investigation lodged through NBN.

Our next "date" will be 24/07/17. If no sign of them again this time, I'll be ramming 2 metres of fibre up them where the sun doesn't shine...

Not surprised. Quite a few stuff-ups have happened with the house. That said, not his fault that the NBN techs have missed every appointment bar one. What's worse is that no one has a clue that they've missed the appointments until I've called up asking "where are they?". According to MyRepublic, we're meant to be notified if they will be missing the appointment.

Been live about a month now on FTTN. Approx 380m from the pillar (measured roughly on car odo and checked against telstra plans). Syncing at 93mbit so im pretty happy with that (copper to pillar was replaced a couple of years ago when tree roots took it out) actual throughput not so happy. Been as low as 2.9mbit at peak hour and struggling to push past 30mbit most nights. Provider is using vocus backhaul though so I might have to change.

Was walking the dogs today, and I noticed some surveyors pegs over a recently dug trench in the park across the road. Wandered over and found they led to a new green box that sits between the two Top Hat RIMs in the park. Looks like I'll be getting FTTN some time soon. Under 100m from my house in a straight line, maybe 200m Manhattan distance (DS attenuation is only 8.0dB). So I'm hoping for >60Mbps - any idea how realistic that is?

we played this game a few pages back if you want to read. the reality was that all of the "appointments" missed were actually the access seeker consistently stuffing up the process and incorrectly communicating to the end user what was being done. it's worse when dealing with a reseller like MR who can't actually interact with NBN directly.
