One big problem in the marketplace is the recurring theme of Intel's business practices.. corrupt to say the least.. and not just a one off event...

Here's proof:

1. Intel stuck with $1.45 billion fine in Europe for unfair and damaging practices against AMD

2. Feds sue Intel over business practices

3. Intel fined record 1bn for illegal business practices

Feel free to use any search engine, the net seems scattered with reports of this mob...

Yeah and it has continued with their "contra revenue" scheme. Unfortunately the tragedy of the commons is well and truly alive and kicking, people refuse to think consequentially.

I don't like AMD due to bad experiences in the past with their processors, but all competition is good when it comes to keeping the prices down and keeping the research up.
Imagine if Woolworths was the only supermarket in Australia.

But how could you expect other people to buy AMD, but it is not good for yourself. What the point in AMD even bothering if they do make a better product but you still will not buy?

Well, your not too far from the truth with that one, except it will be Coles that remains if Woolworths dies due to its current financial woes..

When are these new chips expected to hit the stores?

I'm contemplating upgrading my gaming rig from a Q6600 to a FX-8350

Not for a absolute minimum of 8 months.

Does anyone know how many cores the Zen chips will have?
If they bring out any 16-core overclockable chips I'll probably replace my 5960X with one.
It would be a monster x264 encoding chip.

FX chips though aren't much better than 6-core Phenom II's in multithreaded tasks.

Likely 16 cores with hyperthreading...

BUT and this is the big one. If they release an 8 core with GPU. HSA will give a great benefit beyond just regular CPU cores.

16 cores is nothing but rumours and if true based on what I read it's likely going to be a sever cpu and we won't really know for sure until AMD actually says something solid

And yeah 8 cores with a igpu would be awesome

Too bad they have 8 cores and it's going to be thrown out of court

As much as I agree it's not a true 8 core processor, the fact you can't quantify how fast a 'core' must be in isolation makes this lawsuit completely April fools worthy. In fact I almost thought it was an old April fools joke you accidentally dug up

I sometimes think that Americans sue each other to get at least one news headline in their life.
