Why are people wasting their time?

Excluding stock shortages we have always had very competitive pricing on hardware.

You just have to wait for computer stores to have a reasonable amount of stock and you will pay a low price for it.

I presume its because the local retailer price gouging (AKA australia tax) usually takes 3-4 months to disappear. Anyone posting in a thread like this surely can't wait that long :P

Waiting is the problem

It's actually fairly cost effective to grab one from Amazon on release, they take awhile to update their shipping cost estimates so if you get in early enough you can get a card shipping to OZ for $6 or so in postage!

I've never seen this outside of a shortage.

I would say you would have to wait a week maximum.

Any comparisons against 980ti SLI rather than 980 SLI?

Going to be so expensive. What do you think? ~$1200. Far more interested in seeing 1070 reviews, and the upcoming Polaris. It's cool to have a performance crown for an enthusiast priced card, but 99% of the market will be looking at spending less than half that.

Won't the pricing on the 1080ti be fun given they've upped the price on the 1080. $1500? And then the Titan version.....

When the 1080ti (or hopefully they drop the fucking retarded ti naming scheme) is launched there will probably be a price cut on the existing 1080 model

Yeah, this is what is concerning.
Every gen they have upped the base price of the card by ~10-15%.

AMD are pretty fucked right now, Polaris wont be out for atleast another 6 months and their latest effort (Fury Duo or whatever) is insanely expensive.

The 1080 will be $900-1000 most likely. You just have to wait for the regular cards to be released.

well nvidia have no competition right now, don't believe Polaris will be attacking 1080 and vega which could possibly mix it up is due in October the earliest, expecting to see 1080Ti/Titan around this time, until then nvidia can chill and see all the $$$$ pouring in from 1080 sales

Yes, Aussie review here does 21 different modern games, with many including 980Ti SLI:

What people also need to realise regarding AMD is that approximately a month ago, everyone was talking how nvidia was going to be second to the market and there was absolutely zero news regarding when the Pascal would see the light of day.

We dont know anything. These manufacturers are much better at preventing leaks these days.

1080 is a nice card. Its not worth the price justification for the founders card so its most people will be better off waiting for the AIB cards. ~25% faster than 980Ti. I would say people who are looking at a card for 4K would want this beast. 1440P its not really neccessary just yet.

Well, I'll be upgrading from a 280X running 5760x1080... so hopefully these 1080 cards will give me a decent boost.

The 280X doesn't make it onto any of the comparison charts, so hard to tell...

Been holding off for the last few generations, always waiting to for next best thing, but I think now is the time... when those 3rd party cards come in I'll be looking very closely.
