Do you guys reckon these will just use the currently available DDR4? Wont use special timings etc like AMD did in the past? Will this launch help high mhz ram availability? Or have no impact on the ram sector at all?

anyone else feel like somethings been hidden about ryzen? that being said if this all goes well im happy (6700k user here) intel needs competition.

could be the mass amount of disappointment in the past from amd launches

oh they are glossing over something more likely to do with single threaded apps...but why not play to strengths.
as for ram all it should do is drop ram prices as ddr4 sells more they can flatten the prices out ....for super high speed nah don't think it will do much apart from the general cost drop(unless of course there is a shortage then everyone suffers)

but if that world record cinebench run turns out to be real i can see these being snapped up pretty quick hence why i did...that and prices WILL not drop anytime soon they are already keeping the prices low on purpose....i doubt they will go up like the fury x etc did after launch but they won't drop.

if you have a6700k/770k and only game really then no big deal for you....i just hate intel that much i want this blight out of my case even if i have to suffer a few fps
which i really doubt i will.

When did AMD use special timings? I used the same RAM for Intel/AMD with my Athlon x2 6400+, Semperon 2650 and Phenom II x6 1050T. All were fine. Also never had an issue just using any old Corsair/Kingston/etc RAM in an AMD system I was building for customers.

I wonder what the smarter buy is, 1700 or 1700x?

1600x when it drops -- 95w part with 6 cores much cheaper as well.

I'm thinking for myself and my personal uses. 100Mhz and a tech to OC while temps allow is nice but for $100 more?

the 1700x will be closer to $200 more AUD vs the 1600x and should have similar amounts of performance per core and probably exactly if they both oc to similar levels ( and both being 95w parts there is a good chance of that )

for gaming 1600x is the pick of the litter.

It will finally be time to retire my 3820

I am waiting for the higher spec Asrock fatality board here for pre-order as it looks like the best so far.

yeah there was a time many moons ago many days ride when the amd's and intel's had different memory...but then Lincoln came and did away with segregation...and NVidia shot him

and yes mainstream the 1600x will be the one teamed with a reasonable board and overclocked i think it will be a bit of a beast for the money but that is not out...and i want it now dammit

Loving all the hype for amd vs Intel...

Surely nothing wins against the mighty 2600k?
